Comicpalooza Vendors One on One

This pass weekend was Comicpalooza and Father's Day which equals a busy weekend for my family and I. We kicked off Father's Day weekend by my husband getting off of work early on Friday and we headed out to Comicpalooza at the George R Brown Convention Center. When we got to our location we parked and met with our Head in Charge to get our passes to the event. Once checked in and we receive our passes, event guide, and saw some general information available around the event..here are the pictures:

It was now time for fun! It was the first day of the event, and I like to think of it from our experience over the weekend it was the calm before the storm. I had my almost two year old with me and Friday was a lot easier to get around with the stroller as the other days were pack, but hey we didn't let that stop us as we made it work. As well as we walked around we notice vendors were still trying to get there booth set up, but still took the time to talk to me. My husband and I notice there were a lot more vendors this year than last year and some old ones as I remember looking at their work. We also notice instead of the food court and sitting area being in the back it was in the middle which was nice when needing a break from all the walking. Being there for a few hours to get the inside scoop was neat, but going back the next day to see every single table with a vendor and more food items and also a lot more people was pretty awesome to see. From being able to attend over the weekend was an amazing, and I will like to share with you some of the experience. Before getting started let me tell you this year was a little different as I had a press pass and was able to talk to vendors and ask them a few questions if they wanted too, and let me tell you that was fun. Let start off with Meghan Hetrick, as I got her in action and I was told from her she was making a mess but come on we all know her work was going to come out beautiful and I bet it did.

From there I got to talk and meet two vendors, and one was from Inklings Publishing her artist name was Db Marshmallow, and her goal was her very own comic book next year. I'm looking forward to that as there are not that many woman in the comic industry.

Also another vendor I met and was able to capture one of  my favorite picture of hers was the little mermaid by Kaleigh Hvizdos of Art by Kalo. Her booth was amazing and love how it shows little girls that they can be anything and everything.  If you care to look at her work her website is ArtByKalo.com

Another vendor who was an artist as well and her work captured my attention was Glamour Artist by Meighgan Gladden. I wish I could have talk to her more but didn't get a chance too, hopefully next year. Her work was unique and absolutely amazing and to me it was one of a kind. She did her work using glitter and sequins. OMG...Beautiful and so talented. Here is her business card and a picture of her artwork.

There were also three vendor that I got to talk for a bit who made stuff homemade! We had very own homemade lotion, lip balms, and spray and we were able to smell and try before we made a purchase. I didn't get to make a purchase but I do have her information and hope she is back next year. Her products smell so good!

The second vendor I got to talk to a bit was Samantha Rieff from inspired by Nerd booth. She made towels with badges on there from superheros. Another thing she did and I'm not liking myself for not getting one but I do have her information were mini ID holders from characters and superheros fabric..so cool! Here is her information just in case you would like one for yourself, INSPIREDBYNERD.ETSY.COM is her shop.

Third vendor was from Mechie Fool who was selling totes, aprons, car seat covers, and much more. I remember her from last year as she had the help from her family, and they were standing by her for support during this event. Last year she made me feel welcome at her booth, and I felt like I knew her the way we were talking and this year was the same. She went above and beyond as she didn't have the fabric choices I wanted in a tote bag Friday, but when I went back the next day she manage to take the time from her busy schedule and make me two tote bags in the characters I wanted which was Batman and Ninja turtles. She also told me a time they were going to be ready and they were ready. This customer loved her bags, and love the way she made me happy with her work. Thank you for going above and beyond for making my tote bags, and can't wait to see what you will have next year. Just in case you would like to order from her just send her an email at mechiefool@yahoo.com. Here are my tote bags:

These ladies and their work were amazing to see, and I hope they continue to do what they do and will attend  Comicpalooza next year. Even hope more ladies come out and show their work along, and can't wait to see what else they come out with for next year.

Last but not less there were a lot more vendors who work was beyond amazing and I was able to capture and talk to a few guys/artists about there work and they are

Marcus Roocco from MarcusRocco.com he was a cartoonist and storyteller artist, and his work was neat to see. He had little cards with different characters on there that caught my husband and I eyes and even my son wanted to grab one. Here is his card just in case you would like to look at his work and a picture of his work:

Second there was Esteban Perez who big hero 6 and Spider man work got my attention. Was able to capture a picture of the spider-man and his work was awesome! He has travel and I hope to see him again next year.

Third there was Ryan Shaw who makes how to draw book for kids to get them into drawing as well as hopefully will have a youtube videos teaching you how to draw step by step. He does make books for sell and if you are interest in either his videos or books here is his information.

Each vendor was nice and it was so nice to talk to them about their work, and what exactly they use to do their work. All were great to see! Love how this was my family and I second year and to us it seem like it only got bigger. It was a great experience and a wonderful weekend bonus as it was father's day weekend. I especially enjoy myself even more as I was able to get involve with some of the vendors, and the ones that I did talk to thank you for your time it was very much appreciated. I also think my husband enjoy himself as he was taking pictures! At the end of it we all enjoyed ourselves and hope to be able attend next year.

Stay tuned for my next blog posted to check out our Comicpalooza pictures!
