Young Artist Jiovanny Lopez shares his creativity through drawings inspired by THE PURGE: ELECTION YEAR

Young Artist Jiovanny Lopez shares his creativity through drawings inspired by THE PURGE: ELECTION YEAR

The successful franchise that electrified an entire culture and earned over $200 million in worldwide box office, expands its film universe with The Purge: Election Year from Universal Pictures.
Young Mexican artist Jiovanny Lopez is a big fan of the film series The Purge. For this reason he made several drawings to support the release of The Purge: Election Year. Jiovanny began drawing 2 years ago when he broke his collar bone playing Futbol. He turned to art as a form of therapy. In recent months he has managed to meet his favorite celebrities like Chicharito, Thalia and Eugenio Derbez through his artistic talent.
In support of The Purge: Election Year Jiovanny completed two drawings; one that highlights the iconic masks of this new film, something that the series has become famous for; as well as an additional sketch of actor Frank Grillo who is the main actor in all three installments and one of his favorite actors. Jiovanny mentions that this series has always inspired his creativity due to the impactful visuals and the legendary masks which have very well become characters in itself.

Just in time for the release of The Purge: Election Year, we invite you to enjoy the following time lapse video and photos showing the process as Jiovanny Lopez completes the Lady Liberty mask as seen in the film.

You can check out more of Jio's drawings on his social media platforms:

A Toddler Pinterest Project: Fourth of July

Here we go again putting a pinterest project to the test, and it was a PASS even if my son was not sure about the toilet paper holders...lol.

This project was a fourth of July project.

Things needed:

Red, white, and Blue paint
Blue or black paper
Paper plates (3)
3 toilet paper holder or in my case I had a paper towel holder and cut it half making it two.

Cut strips into each of the holders(halfway only), once done with all. Lay flat with the strips sticking out.

Pour each color of paint onto each paper plate.

Grab and put each roll for each color. Dip your roll with the strips sticking out in the red paint an put it on the paper, once done you will have a red firework..repeat with white and blue. Note you don't have to cover the all the strips or completely.

Here are some pictures:

Happy fourth of July

My Comicpalooza Experience

As I stated in the previous post that this pass weekend was Comicpalooza and we got to attended. During the event I got to meet and talk to some amazing vendors who were artist that either did some drawing or made homemade things(find out more information in the posted about Comicpalooza Vendor One on One).
Now in this posted I would like to share with you some of the my(well our) favorites costumes we saw, yes costumes people do come dress up to Comicpalooza. And you know what these are not simple ones, these are homemade with detail work, and some people spend long hours on them. We are into comics, superheros, turtles, etc and seeing what Comicpalooza have to offer is great, but to tell you the truth seeing the people who spent hours and hours on their costumes is what make my Comicpalooza experience an enjoyable one. As well as being able to captured a dance party next to the food court against different characters was priceless. Here is the dance party along with a few of our favorites costumes we were able to captured, and the little boss(my son) who was ready to go and look at the next thing!

Beside artists, meet and greet for a little cost, there were also booths for businesses to advertise what there business or event was all about. There was also a food court with a sitting area in the middle of the convention center which I love, instead of it being in the back like last year. They had a kid center for a small fee for tickets to do the activities. Upstairs they offer classes, had a Q & A panel, LEGO center for kids, gaming center before upstairs and downstairs. Than you had Roller Derby if you are a fan this a must see, as well as there booth had Arm Wrestle a Derby Girl...hehehe I went for the girls. Another thing that captured are attention was the booths that were there for charity such as we took a picture of some of the star wars cast and at their booth they had a donation box for the Ronald McDonald House. I personally thought that was such a good idea and for a good cause. Just in case Ronald McDonald House helps families who are far from home have a long or short hospital stay, and need place to stay, well this house gives them a place to sleep, food, and able to wash clothes. Than the NASA booth which was nice to see and talk to the workers at the booth about what they had with them, and we were also able to take pictures in an astronaut suit...cool, I know. The Renaissance Festival was there and you even had a chance to win some fun prizes such as a ticket for the festival, well my son and I spin the wheel and won a coloring book. There was also Half price bookstore and if you love books like me they gave out coupons and a reading log for your child or for you to read to your child, once done you could turn it in to any stores at the end of July for a 5 dollar off coupon...I tell you I love reading and love reading to my child so I love these coupons.  Fourth they had drinks stations around the event including the food court as well as Ben and Jerry's was there for your sweet tooth, and St. Arnold for us adults for a nice cold one. Finally my husband favorite and thanks to him for all these pictures he got to relaxed at the Mattress Firm booth on one of their demo massage chairs they had there, and you know what he didn't even want to get up until they told him the price, than he got up really fast...lol!! Here are some of the booths we got to visit:

With a wonderful weekend and another Comicpalooza coming to an end I must say it was one to remember especially it being father's day weekend. This was only my family and I second year and it seen just from last year to this year that it grew, and I only hope it does as each passing year it comes to town. Also if you have not made it to one just yet take it from me, and do it next year as you are missing out even if you are not interest in that kind of stuff, just doing something different is always nice. We enjoyed like we did last year and I'm actually hoping that if we are able to attend next year we will all dress up...hey I have a whole year to plan and make our costumes!

I hope after this posted and my Comicpalooza Vendor One and One will get you pump up, and ready for next year.

In the mean time, I shall leave you with this one last picture

Until Next Year

Lauren

P.S. I want to give a big thank you to Lisa Carey of New Creative Media for all the work she did to make this happen for myself and the other bloggers. Thank you Mrs. Lisa!!

Comicpalooza Vendors One on One

This pass weekend was Comicpalooza and Father's Day which equals a busy weekend for my family and I. We kicked off Father's Day weekend by my husband getting off of work early on Friday and we headed out to Comicpalooza at the George R Brown Convention Center. When we got to our location we parked and met with our Head in Charge to get our passes to the event. Once checked in and we receive our passes, event guide, and saw some general information available around the event..here are the pictures:

It was now time for fun! It was the first day of the event, and I like to think of it from our experience over the weekend it was the calm before the storm. I had my almost two year old with me and Friday was a lot easier to get around with the stroller as the other days were pack, but hey we didn't let that stop us as we made it work. As well as we walked around we notice vendors were still trying to get there booth set up, but still took the time to talk to me. My husband and I notice there were a lot more vendors this year than last year and some old ones as I remember looking at their work. We also notice instead of the food court and sitting area being in the back it was in the middle which was nice when needing a break from all the walking. Being there for a few hours to get the inside scoop was neat, but going back the next day to see every single table with a vendor and more food items and also a lot more people was pretty awesome to see. From being able to attend over the weekend was an amazing, and I will like to share with you some of the experience. Before getting started let me tell you this year was a little different as I had a press pass and was able to talk to vendors and ask them a few questions if they wanted too, and let me tell you that was fun. Let start off with Meghan Hetrick, as I got her in action and I was told from her she was making a mess but come on we all know her work was going to come out beautiful and I bet it did.

From there I got to talk and meet two vendors, and one was from Inklings Publishing her artist name was Db Marshmallow, and her goal was her very own comic book next year. I'm looking forward to that as there are not that many woman in the comic industry.

Also another vendor I met and was able to capture one of  my favorite picture of hers was the little mermaid by Kaleigh Hvizdos of Art by Kalo. Her booth was amazing and love how it shows little girls that they can be anything and everything.  If you care to look at her work her website is ArtByKalo.com

Another vendor who was an artist as well and her work captured my attention was Glamour Artist by Meighgan Gladden. I wish I could have talk to her more but didn't get a chance too, hopefully next year. Her work was unique and absolutely amazing and to me it was one of a kind. She did her work using glitter and sequins. OMG...Beautiful and so talented. Here is her business card and a picture of her artwork.

There were also three vendor that I got to talk for a bit who made stuff homemade! We had very own homemade lotion, lip balms, and spray and we were able to smell and try before we made a purchase. I didn't get to make a purchase but I do have her information and hope she is back next year. Her products smell so good!

The second vendor I got to talk to a bit was Samantha Rieff from inspired by Nerd booth. She made towels with badges on there from superheros. Another thing she did and I'm not liking myself for not getting one but I do have her information were mini ID holders from characters and superheros fabric..so cool! Here is her information just in case you would like one for yourself, INSPIREDBYNERD.ETSY.COM is her shop.

Third vendor was from Mechie Fool who was selling totes, aprons, car seat covers, and much more. I remember her from last year as she had the help from her family, and they were standing by her for support during this event. Last year she made me feel welcome at her booth, and I felt like I knew her the way we were talking and this year was the same. She went above and beyond as she didn't have the fabric choices I wanted in a tote bag Friday, but when I went back the next day she manage to take the time from her busy schedule and make me two tote bags in the characters I wanted which was Batman and Ninja turtles. She also told me a time they were going to be ready and they were ready. This customer loved her bags, and love the way she made me happy with her work. Thank you for going above and beyond for making my tote bags, and can't wait to see what you will have next year. Just in case you would like to order from her just send her an email at mechiefool@yahoo.com. Here are my tote bags:

These ladies and their work were amazing to see, and I hope they continue to do what they do and will attend  Comicpalooza next year. Even hope more ladies come out and show their work along, and can't wait to see what else they come out with for next year.

Last but not less there were a lot more vendors who work was beyond amazing and I was able to capture and talk to a few guys/artists about there work and they are

Marcus Roocco from MarcusRocco.com he was a cartoonist and storyteller artist, and his work was neat to see. He had little cards with different characters on there that caught my husband and I eyes and even my son wanted to grab one. Here is his card just in case you would like to look at his work and a picture of his work:

Second there was Esteban Perez who big hero 6 and Spider man work got my attention. Was able to capture a picture of the spider-man and his work was awesome! He has travel and I hope to see him again next year.

Third there was Ryan Shaw who makes how to draw book for kids to get them into drawing as well as hopefully will have a youtube videos teaching you how to draw step by step. He does make books for sell and if you are interest in either his videos or books here is his information.

Each vendor was nice and it was so nice to talk to them about their work, and what exactly they use to do their work. All were great to see! Love how this was my family and I second year and to us it seem like it only got bigger. It was a great experience and a wonderful weekend bonus as it was father's day weekend. I especially enjoy myself even more as I was able to get involve with some of the vendors, and the ones that I did talk to thank you for your time it was very much appreciated. I also think my husband enjoy himself as he was taking pictures! At the end of it we all enjoyed ourselves and hope to be able attend next year.

Stay tuned for my next blog posted to check out our Comicpalooza pictures!

A letter to my husband on father's day

My sweet husband,

I'm beyond blessed and thankful to not only have you as my husband, but the father to my child. I love how you make the most of it during the week with him from the time you get up for work and than when you come home. To you it may not be a lot because you work, but to him and to me it is and of course you make it up to him on the weekends. I also love seeing your bond just grow as well as hearing yall laugh and I have no idea why...lol. As well as you just acting crazy and doing things with him that you never thought you would brings so much joy to my heart. After seeing that it's true what you said when we found out we were having a baby, you would do anything and everything for him and you ARE!

I want to Thank you from the bottom of my heart for being that Father figure to our son. I never had what you two have because my real father decided not to be in my life, and seeing you guys my husband and son fills that void in my heart. I thank God for blessing me with an amazing man who is not only an amazing father, but an amazing husband who not only knows how to treat me like a Queen but is showing your son and rising him right. Times get tough but at the end I will forever be grateful for who you are in my life and in our son life. Everyday we get with you is a blessing and we are proud to have you in our lives. You know I will be forever thankful to God that I have you as my husband, and have you as the father to my child....you my husband are absolutely amazing at both titles!

Here is to many more father's day and I hope your second one is one to remember in your books. Thank you again for everything and I know I'm forever grateful for who you are, for what you do for us and for just being you. You are forever ours and we are forever thankful!

Love you honey always and forever!

Happy Father's day!!

Love your wife,
Lauren

Two pinterest baby shower project

Since starting the pinterest series with my toddler I have also try and put pinterest to the test before hand. I love the series I'm doing, and would love to include what I do, try, and what I have done. Well back when I was pregnant, pinterest was my go to for ideas for my baby shower and two ideas I got:

#1: Were getting children books and use them as a guest book for my guest at my baby shower to sign. I didn't have a normal guest book I had 6 books. No need to make an expense on book I got my books from half price bookstore for a good price. We also had a note so they could know that these were my guest book and many of our guest love this idea. Even almost two years later I share this idea and they still love it. Plus when I read a bedtime stores to my son I could read to him what his loved ones wrote once he understand.

#2: Another idea I got was everyone worry about the mommy and baby during the pregnancy, and no one worries about daddy. Well I saw this idea on pinterest I knew I had to put it to the test. The idea was a daddy's survival kit for during the pregnancy and of course the hospital stay. I got his favorites snacks, put a note on the outside explaining what each snack stand for, and a bucket from the dollar tree. My husband didn't see this until after we open all the gifts during the baby shower as I stated it was a gift from me to him. He read the note out loud and if I heard correctly his voice crack as he was reading the note....which means he loved the gift I made for him.

Two pinterest projects I put to the test and both were a success! Also thanks to Connie at momma of dos for telling me to write about these two ideas, to help future mommies to be with some ideas.

Stay tuned for more of my pinterest series!!

Three day weekend, No pacifier, Hair cut chair by himself....what the what!!!!

This pass weekend was three weekend which mean we had daddy home extra day this weekend, and I must admit it was nice. Here is a quick recap of our weekend....Friday night dealing with rain but manage to go get some Pho at a nearby restaurant since the weather was perfect. Saturday morning got up went and helped some friends move to their new place well my honey did while I watch my little one. After awhile I came home and put my little one down for a nap since it was time and we left daddy behind. Once he woke up went to go grab daddy and had a late lunch early dinner at chick fli a along with some play time and ice cream, than came home and called it an early night! Sunday went to a little pool party didn't come home till late after having fun in the water and good food, once done we came home shower ate and called it a night. Monday was just being around the house lazy and in pjs...perfect way of ending a great three weekend.

During the crazy busy weekend the time came it was Saturday evening where I had to cut my son's pacifier due to the nipple having a hole and we didn't want him to choke on it while asleep or anytime. Plus he was only using it for chewing and pulling at it so it was time, and it was harder on me now that its been a few days. He will be 21 months on the 5th and here I am thinking it will be harder on him, but it was harder on me as this will be last thing I have that a baby is in the house. So this is way I have been holding on as long as I can but hey I still got smelly diapers I have to change....hahahaha. Now that its been a few days I'm proud to say its been going great. Than Sunday my guys made time to get a haircut well the lady suggest he sit in the chair by himself and guess what he did a great job and didn't give the lady no problems. My baby boy is now a big baby boy and two changes in one weekend hit my hard that my only, my first is growing and slowly but surely. You know he will no longer need mommy at the haircut place and it will soon be a guy thing for my husband and him, and that make sad but in the mean time still enjoy going with them even if I don't have to sit with him anymore.

Now that the crazy weekend is over and another weekend is near...so stay tuned to see what else happen in my house and the changes that are slowly coming with my big baby boy.

Lauren

P.S. Before going I know I'm but would to give Thanks to the ladies and gentleman who served our country and lost their lives for it! Thank you so much!!
