Family traditions can be fun, or something so simple, but so meaningful because of the memories that are being made behind it. Every family is different with their traditions, some even continue with their traditions with their own family. It also doesn't matter when to do it, as some do it annually, weekdays, weekends, holidays, birthdays, etc., just for fun, and it can start whenever you like.
With that being said do you have a family tradition? If so what it is?
Let me be the first to tell you when I was growing up(only child here ), I didn't have any family traditions. Since I didn't have any I told myself when I get older and get married, have my family of my own I will start my very own traditions. Well now that I'm married my husband and I had our own traditions for our anniversary, birthday, and valentine's day, but when we have a child it will be a lot more as we saw our friends and their families do things especially around the holidays. After seeing them do things with their child(ren), I told my husband when we have a child I want to do more traditions with our child as a family and of course some with friends family friends at that.....
Well guess what I'm happy to say we have a child a little boy at that, and since holidays are near with halloween being first....why not start it off with our first family tradition especially it being our son's first Halloween, and it will also be his first of everything at that and what a perfect time to start with halloween.
So our first family tradition happen last Sunday! I kept telling my husband I wanted to carve pumpkins, we can do one of each or just one for our son no matter what I wanted to do it. When the time came I was so excited when we got the pumpkin, and we decided to get just one pumpkin this time around, along with the carving kit. After we got it we came home watch football, had visitors, and that evening we carved our son's very first pumpkin. Oh yeah I forgot to mention my husband and I never carved a pumpkin so it was a first for us, and I knew well we knew this was going to be a memorable, fun, and some good laughs and a great way to kick off our family traditions...lol. Before we decide to get into the pumpkin, like I said we never did it before my husband you tube yes you tube..lol. Once he knew what to do we decided for him to carved the pumpkin, while I hold our son and take pictures, and help when needed. He carved away and was so excited, and so into it, as well as I was too and our son was even looking at his daddy.
Pumpkin was done and daddy did an awesome job! It was such a proud moment for him and of course for me, because I got our very first family tradition started for my family and can't wait to do many more!!!
Here is a picture collage of my husband carving our son's first pumpkin and our first family tradition! You know after my husband was done he said next year we will do one for the each of us. As well as he was glad that I wanted to do this, as he first said our son was to small....but special as it's our son's first of eveything, and we won't get this back! At the end my husband was very happy and now he can't wait and we are both looking forward to our very own family traditions!
