Calling all Truffles lovers

I had an amazing opportunity along with my family to try samples of truffle which are orginial call Brigadeiro(Bree-gah-day-row). Brigadeiro are chocolate truffle from Brazil created in the 1940s. Now they are here in Houston and the surrounding areas thanks to the wonderful owner named Livia Salinas. Here is a little about Livia Salinas(from her website):

My name is Livia Orlandin Salinas, a wife, a mother and a brigadeiro fanatic. Like most Southern born Brazilians, my family is Italian and that means growing up around food, attending weekly family gatherings and big Sunday lunches filled with plenty of desserts.  I learned how to make brigadeiros with my dear grandmother, who used to make them for all family parties and I would help her by scraping the pans and eating the leftovers! With a background in hospitality and tourism, lived in Europe and became a foodie and fell in love with sharing my recipes of brigadeiros with my friends from different parts of the world and always hearing how they were delicious and addictive.  After moving to the US in 2006, married my high school sweetheart and worked at large hotel chains, our son Lucca was welcomed in 2013. Wanting him to grow up around my culture and keeping our passion for food, I decided to develop a gourmet line of my biggest passion, brigadeiros.

Like many she had dream and she is making it happen. Slowly but surely Brigadeiros are becoming a name for any occasion you can name of.

Like I stated in the beginning I along with my family got the opportunity to samples these wonderful Brigadeiros. These are our honest opinions.

Let's start off by showing you what they are, and what each flavor were and than tell you if we enjoyed them or not (yes I will keep you waiting).

First her product is very welcoming especially how they are box and there is label to know which each flavor was. Also there was a new flavor Black Forest which she has not advistise yet and it was package individually and nicely.  Here are a few pictures of her products Brigadeiros:

New Flavor Black Forrest

So I bet now you are wondering did we enjoy them or not....well let me tell you that this was a first for all of us, as well as never even heard of Brigadeiro before I met Livia Salinas the owner and read about them on her website. Now the moment of truth yes we enjoyed them and a matter fact the family favorite was the chocolate crunch. Each one of them had an unique flavor even just the original was tasteful and gave us a hint of what they were suppose to taste like before trying the flavor ones. From the looks of it I think my almost two year old enjoyed them all...lol!

The new flavor black Forrest was absolutely amazing, love how when we took a bit into it we tasted a cherry in the middle....yum! It was moist, flavorful, and the flavor which including the cherry went just right.

Churro: All I have to say this was second for us. If you know the actual dessert churro you won't be disappointed with this one. Everything right on point!

Coconut: We are not to big on Coconut but this wasn't strong with coconut flavor which made it very enjoyable.

White Chocolate: Hubby said he love how the white chocolate was moist and wasn't rich

Dark chocolate and Coconut: Two flavor a that goes well together and can't go wrong

Chocolate Cruch: Oh yum! You know the crunch candy bar well this is what exactly that taste like. Family favorite.

Original: Not sure what flavor to try or get or is your first time trying Brigadeiro can't go wrong with original, plus it will get your taste buds ready for the flavor ones. Chocolate on chocolate can't beat that.

Everyone of these Brigadeiros were moist, flavor was on point and not rich whatsoever, and just like all the other ones her new flavor Black Forrest will be successful.

If you are ever in the Katy area or even the Houston area and need dessert try Brigadeiro! Livia Salinas does delivery, just reach out to her to work something out. Here is her information:

First trip to the ER

Yup you saw the title correctly we made our first trip to the ER. Last Tuesday my son woke up from his very short nap feeling hot, and I check his temp and he had a fever of a 101.3. I send a text to husband to put him on stand by and when he got out of work he went to the store and got some sprite and some soup for our little one. Well in between all that he was throwing up and than not wanting to eating only pick. I gave him some meds and thankfully he slept good that night. Also my husband didn't go to work the the next day which was last Wednesday because while he was at the store he was a having battery problem. Which luckily our family friend helped him out because when I was on the way our son started to throw up in the car so had to turn back. You know my husband had been so exhausted and with him working on his car till late while I was taking care of our son he was beyond tired. So Wednesday he nor his body couldn't handle it so he decide to stay home.

Anyways back to our son so last Wednesday was a good day until after dinner we notice he was getting little snores around his mouth. We didn't think of anything until he went to sleep for the night but got up at midnight. We try to comfort him, try to figure out what was wrong and to make him happy because he was fuss and crying. Than we notice he had those sores coming out all over his body worst spot was his behind and around his mouth, and to top it off he was itching and it wasn't a little it was a lot.

Since he couldn't get comfortable, and than we notice around his little mouth was swollen so as parents we made the decision to either find a store to get him meds or take him to the ER at 2 in the morning by this time it was Thursday already. Here we go we all got ready and headed to the ER they check him out. We waited for them to call us to the back. So we waited and waited until about 4 o clock they call us to the back in the meantime my son is playing, laughing dancing but no music and saying hi to everyone, made us think if he was really sick...lol. We got called to the back talk to the nurse and got examined and than after a while doctor came in...well come to find out my son had gotten a bad virus/disease called Hand Foot and Mouth. Honestly I used to work with kids before my baby boy and never have I heard of this sickness until becoming a parent. He had not only sores all along his body but he had blisters in his mouth which kept him from eating much or being comfortable. Doctor gave us medicine to keep his mouth comfortable and we just had to waited it out. From there we were on our way home from the hospital at 5 in the morning and that's the time my husband gets up for work, instead we were tired from just coming in and went straight to bed.

You know making our first trip ER, and it being the first time our son got really sick on us since being born was truly hard. I as a mommy felt like I fail as a parent but I understand that I can't protect my son from everything.

We as first time parents is true what they say you learn as you go because this has been a learning process, and it has tested everything for us from lack of sleep to  our patience but at the end our main focus was our little guy and glad we took him when needed.

I as a mother and his mother will and would do anything for him and last week was truly put to the test along with my husband(daddy) he did anything for me and for our son(like always).

I want to leave off with thanking God for blessing me with an amazing husband who was there by my side, and didn't let me do any of this by myself and for always helping me! Also it's almost been a week and proud to say our son is feeling much better. He's got a little snores here and there but nothing did or won't keep him down!

Pinterest series: Mommy Edition-Was it a PASS or FAIL

Pinterest series: Mommy Edition-Was it a PASS or FAIL

This pinterest series is a little different as I'm the one who will put stuff to the test to see if it was a PASS or FAIL! Since I'm planning my son's birthday I got a lot of ideas from pinterest from decorations to diy projects to even how to set up...thanks pinterest!

So with that being said this will be call Pinterest Series: Mommy Edition- Was it a PASS or Fail. I will be putting things to the test to see if they were a PASS or a Fail. I would share with you everything you need for that project and if it was easy or not.

With that being said here are the first few projects I did, first you will see pinterest picture and than my pictures. Later on I will explain how I did the project and details

Pinterest pictures:

Here are my pictures

Everything was easy. The Halloween mason jars gave me the idea to do the football and referee and I'm using them as candle holders(took a chance with these). The cans football were made out of paper, but I used tissue paper and it came out the same. Than the number 2 my son size which I painted backwards and didn't notice until we took his pictures but it's fix now and thank God for my husband and photo shop. After that you have a field goal I made with the help from my husband.

Other than that I love that these project were easy, got my husband involve, and very inexpensive. It was a Pass!

Stay tuned for how to do on these projects!
