Comicpalooza was held at the GRB( George R. Brown Convention Center) this pass weekend Friday, May 22 to the Monday, May 25, a 4 day comic con!
This is where you would had found my family and I at this pass weekend. With it being our first experience, first comic con ever and not knowing what to expected, but we were ready and got even more excited as they share a story about comic con on our local news station. We parked, got our tickets(which are pretty cool tickets for the 4 day pass), and walked in to the convention center and let me tell you we didn't know or think so many people would be there and boy were we wrong. For those of you don't know GRB is a very big place and this is where comic con took place, and it took up every space possible!
Once we got there I went to report to a room and met other bloggers, grab my blogger sticker and shirt, and we were off to enjoy the comic con. Pictures taken from the room, and what a pretty awesome view
On the first floor there was vendors after vendors selling different things from handmade or not, artists selling their work of art, toys from the old to the new and and of course for a small fee you could meet and greet actress, actors, writers, artists, and wrestlers, and have your picture taken with them. There was a bar for adult drinks, and vendors selling food and cold drinks along with a big sitting area to give your feet a break. At comic con you come as is or come dress up as your favorite superhero, cartoon character, favorite star, and so much more just within the rules or just do with my 8.5 month old son and husband did, which was wear their favorite superhero shirt ...BATMAN and we thought it was a great idea to us as again it was our first time but many people at that same great idea(HEHEHEHE). You know they even had a kid section with a moonwalk, Nasa was giving away goodies, as well as one vendor was giveaway a comic book or stop by and sing let it go with Elsa and Ana, and if that was not your thing catch a lesson of martial arts while there. There was so much to see and do that we didn't get meet anyone because we just didn't want to miss a thing even my 8.5 month old only took a cat nap because he was just so excited to be there. Here are pictures of the first floor and the guest dress up, some vendors including an artwork of a lego batman we bought for our son's room. Check them out:

Children's Museum Booth- I was signing up to hopefully win
a free membership...we shall see! |
Off to the second floor where they had roller derby going on, a robot fight including a robot dog in the mix of it all on one end, and other end they offer old school arcade games and pinball to played and of course more food and drinks and sitting space to take a break.
Even offer Cosplay as well, which we saw many people excited and pump about it, we didn't get to catch it this year but fingers cross for next year.
Now moving up to the third floor where there was classroom that offer different things, and there was some on the second floor too. Just in case if needed there was a first aid room on the third floor. We looked into some rooms there were Q & A going on, and a game console room for kids, and my son was to young for this room but they had a Lego room.
Like I said before GRB convention center is big and comic con took up every space possible, and since the place is so big and packed but it didn't feel overcrowded, plus side about being big!
As far as for our experience it was an adventure that's for sure! It may had been our first, but hoping it won't be our last. We didn't get dress up beside wearing our favorite superhero shirt but it was cool and neat seeing everyone else did and being able to take pictures of them or with them.
Comic Con is for everyone not just for fans of sci-fi, fantasy, comics, or superheros, etc. If you do decide to go make it a whole day or just make it fun and do all four days. My advice to you, is to plan ahead and make time to get there as there is traffic and long lines to get it and it does go by fast. Of course you can grab something to drink and eat while there or just leave and come back, but remember you have to pay for parking again. Glad my husband and I took pictures while we were there, and internet connection was good as I needed a twitter break...as you can tell
So keep an look out and come in join the fun of comic con 2016, because you know the saying it's always bigger and better than the year before!!!!
See you guys at Comic Con 2016!!!
Lauren
